Part 1: We are truly living in unprecedented times as educators. There's far too much negativity in our communities right now; we need something to celebrate. In part 1 of our FREE ChangED series, 5 innovative schools from the Innovative Schoool Network and Teacher-Powered Networks shared Pecha Kucha Style (20 slides, each 20 seconds long) something they loved about distance teaching from the abrupt end of the 2020 school year. Watch the video to see how they responded, what they tried, why they thought was successful, how they kept students engaged, and how they earned the support of parents. Apologies that the recording starts a few minutes into the webinar.

Part 2: Finding HOPE in a Time of Unrest: Learning How to Talk About Racism
Part 2: As educators, we recognize our world is changing and we are in a position to respond. Though we welcome what this means for our students and families, it can be overwhelming to decide which resources to use, or maybe even where to start. In part 2 of our FREE ChangED series, we are excited and honored to welcome Oprah guest, Dr. Oz regular, principal and author Dr. Salome Thomas-EL, better known as Principal EL, to share his message of hope, love, understanding, and focus to work with our learners while looking through a social justice lens. Check out Part 6 of his Hope in SIght series, Real Talk About Confronting Racism in Schools HERE. Following Principal EL’s presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to reflect and join a breakout room discussion geared for elementary, middle school, and high school teachers.

Gather together to learn:
Valuable resources, conversation starters, and critical activities in discussions around racism.
Ask questions in a safe space.
Gather inspiration or affirmation on how to support students and families in times of unrest.
Strengthen your professional network through collaborative and meaningful conversations.

Appropriate for those working with Elementary, Middle and High School students. You do not have to have participated in part 1 to attend part 2 of this series to join. All are welcome.

Part 3: What does the start of your year look like?
Part 3: This FREE ChangED open forum will let attendees share best practices on what they’re doing to kick off the start of the 2020-21 school year to address social justice and teaching through social distance. Be prepared to spend a few minutes talking about some of the ideas you and your team have, or be a fly on the wall to gather inspiration to take back to your team. This meeting of the minds is meant to be a safe space to bounce ideas off of each other and ask questions as you see fit. If the need for Elementary, Middle and High School breakout rooms seem appropriate, we can accommodate.

Come together to learn from each other:
  • Meet with like-minded educators, share ideas, and ask questions in a safe space.
  • Gather inspiration or affirmation on how to support students and families in times of unrest.
  • Strengthen your professional network through collaborative and meaningful conversations.

Recommended for Elementary, Middle and High School educators needing ideas and inspiration for online/distance learning options with students. You do not have to have participated in part 1 or 2 of this series to join. All are welcome.
